A self-defence programme was held for the women and girls of Kumily, Idukki at the Government Vocational Higher Secondary School organised by the psycho-social council of the Integrated Child Development Scheme or the ICDS. Leading the programme was Santhi Shajimon, the president of Kumily grama panchayat and Neenu V Kurien, the ICDS additional psycho-social councillor. With the aim of having women equipped with self-defence practices, a special task force of three-member women held the classes and demonstrations. The sessions were to provide women with the know-how on defending themselves when physically attacked.

Goa: Around 7% dip in HSSC exam results over last year’s scores, girls shine

The recently declared results of the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination has shown a dip in the performance by 7% as compared to the result of last year. According to Bhagirath Shetye, GBSHSE Chairman, 16,783 students out of the 18,112 who appeared for exams in all four streams has passed the exams. He also revealed that 94.58% of girls cleared, showing a better performance than the boys who had only 90.66% success. “The Board adopted the special assessment scheme for the academic year 2021-2022 to deal with the school closures and challenges of conducting exams due to Covid pandemic. The special assessment scheme included two Board Examinations, first term exam (Dec-Jan 2021-22) and second term exam (April),” Shetye added.

50k enrol in skill training in Himachal

The Himachal Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Nigam or the HPKVN has received over 50,000 enrolments for their short-term skill training programmes and courses. The three-year Bachelor of Vocation degree programme has received 4,621 applications where candidates will be trained in retail, tourism, and hospitality. According to an official statement released, the state government revealed that anyone who did not enrol with ITI can join a short-term training offered in the it is through HGKVN-sponsored programmes.
