Uttar Pradesh government to hold second apprenticeship mela on May 30

The special secretary of vocational education and skill development, Harikesh Chaurasia, has revealed that the UP state government, MSME, district administration, and the employment department will be organising the second apprenticeship mela in all 75 ITIs of the state. Last year’s apprenticeship fair has 10,600 youth benefitting from it and this time, 253 participating companies selected 5157 people. “The state government is providing an opportunity to the people to do an apprenticeship in various institutions by organising apprenticeship fairs in the ITIs of the districts. Through apprenticeship, people are getting an opportunity to learn as well as earn,” added Chaurasia.

Centre to connect startups with govt ecosystem

Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, attended the ‘New India for Young India: Techade of Opportunities’ at the Gujarat University, where he talked about the efforts made by the Centre to connect Indian startups with government ecosystems to provide innovative solutions for procurement requirements. He said, “Soon Digital India Startup Hub, an institutional framework, shall be established to promote startup ecosystem and to centrally coordinate initiatives. The government is making efforts to connect startups with government ecosystem so that government’s procurement requirements can be met with innovative solutions offered by startups.” He also added, “We are working with each state government and will soon roll out a programme called ‘Digital India start up hub’. This is a national enabler for all startups around the country.”

IIT Mandi partners with NSDC to enable digital course delivery, offer quality learning and skilling

Through a pact signed between the NSDC and IIT, Mandi, certain initiatives will be introduced to enable effective digital course delivery to youth as well as expanding of quality skilling and learning that will include hands-on learning opportunities such as data science, big data analytics, etc. The MoU states that IIT Mandi will be taking care of the design as well as delivery of these digital learning modules for targeted candidate profiles. The Director of IIT Mandi, Laxmidhar Behera, commented saying, “A joint initiative to set up a unique facility for immersive hands-on experience is being planned in the IIT Mandi campus that will promote skills in emerging technologies along with entrepreneurship.”
