Currently, the central government spends around Rs 15,000 crore annually on skill development programs through different schemes. Combining with contribution from state governments for similar projects the total investment reaches about Rs 30,000 crore per annum. Hence, the government is planning to set up a fund pool for all skill related schemes throughout the country.
To introduce skilling programs from the school level, the ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship (MSDE) and the ministry of human resource development (MHRD) working together to set up skill hubs across hundreds of CBSE, private, and government schools. Being under a single management, all schemes will get equal attention and influence for a better outcome.
