Indian Navy Conducts Skill Development Training Program

The Naval Dockyard conducted a ‘Skill Development Training Program’ on “Maintenance of PSA Oxygen Plants.” The four-day training program was held from 27th May onwards, based on conversations between the Indian Navy and Niti Ayog, on the heightened requirement of Oxygen in the current scenario.

The training was led virtually by a team of specialists, and it consisted of both theoretical sessions and practical demonstrations on the PSA plant available at Dockyard. The training was attended by 82 Master Trainers from various institutes across the country. Likewise, the professors from IIT and officials from the Ministry of Health And Family Welfare along with the Ministry of Skill Development also took part in the training. Read more.


APSSDC to offer free online training for unemployed youth

The Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) has decided to grant free online training programs for the unemployed youth of the country, who are badly hit by the pandemic. The training will be started by June 2nd and is mainly themed around three programs —National Stock Exchange Financial Markets, Customer Care Executives, and Entrepreneurship Development.

Graduation is the basic qualification to get enrolled in these programs. Interested candidates can visit the website www.apssdc.in or call 18004252422, 8978524022 for registration. An official confirmed that more programs in e-commerce, digital marketing, Amazon web services, Python, and MS Office will also be made available to the youth. Read more.

A Skill training exclusively for COVID-19 management

Prime Minister Kaushal Vikash Yojana (PMKVY) has proposed short-term skill training for COVID -19 management. This skill training program is jointly organized by the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and the Skill Development Corporation, and it aims to provide training in Emergency medical technician – Basic, General Duty Assistant (GDA), GDA Advanced-Critical care, Phlebotomist, Medical Equipment Technology Assistant, and Home Health Aide.

As per the official records, upon the successful completion of the training, the trainees could work as interns at various government hospitals and primary health centers. Applicants must be 10th, 12th, or graduation qualified. Interested candidates may send their resumes, along with the job role they are looking for to dstodpi2020@gmail.com.

Dramatic improvement in student enrolment by Skill Development department

For the past years, the admissions in the government polytechnic colleges have been observed to be declining due to the weak response of the students. However, the skill development department has made a majestic recovery by increasing admission in the polytechnic colleges across J&K. Over 70 percent of the seats were filled in the last admission drive.

This improvement in the admission pattern is expected to be the outcome of the government’s decision to give powers to the principals of polytechnic colleges, wherein they can provide admissions to the students at the institute level. Because of the same, the principals and their team remained proactive in reaching out to students to get their admissions.
