Free certificate courses on ‘Degree Plus’, SPPU’s new online platform

Savitribai Phule Pune University or the SPPU is planning to launch ‘Degree Plus’, an online platform offering about 500 short-term certificate courses. This move was done in order to increase employability among students and also seeing how online courses have grown in popularity every since the global pandemic hit. Several other ed-tech companies have also collaborated with universities to offer online certificate and diploma courses. Read more.

45% of India Inc. keen to hire apprentices in H2 2021

The National Employability though Apprenticeship Program or the NETAP, the largest degree apprenticeship program in the country, from TeamLease Skills University has launched the latest issue of the Apprenticeship Outlook Report, a detailed survey capturing hiring sentiments of 18 leading sectors across 14 cities, for July to December 2021. It was found that around 45 per cent of employers are interested in hiring apprentice in H2 period, showing a 4 per cent increase from the previous half year. The report also showed a 6 per cent increase from the first half, H1 2021, regarding the increase in apprenticeship intake. Another major finding was that 17 out of the 18 sectors analyzed showed a positive net apprenticeship outlook or NAO with Manufacturing & Engineering, Retail, and Automobile & Ancillaries at the top. Apna.co-AkzoNobel collaboration helps painters access hyperlocal jobs

A memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Apna.co, a professional jobs and networking platform, and AkzoNobel India Limited with the aim of helping paint contractors, painters, and allied workers in accessing job opportunities that are hyper-local. With this collaboration, painters will be able to access career information, networking opportunities, soft skilling programs, and also be able to present their work as well. This initiative is expected to benefit lacs of painters and contractors. Those receiving vocational training at the AkzoNobel Paint Academy in decorative paints will also receive online training by the Apna platform on professional networking and community engagement.
