Soft skills help in communicating clearly, demonstrating empathy, utilizing the influential strategies and inspiring other people. They can also indicate whether an employee will display self-motivation, demonstrate emotional intelligence and embrace self-development.

Soft skills are known to be more difficult to acquire than hard skills. As the technical skills are generally teachable, soft skills are more correlated with one’s emotional quotient and personality.

Variety of methods are used by companies to assess soft skills during the recruitment and promotion process. The need for soft skills is booming recently because technical and professional tasks have become automated by artificial intelligence. In LinkedIn’s 2019 Global Talent Trends report it was established that 92 percent of talented professionals have stated that soft skills mattered as much as or even more than hard skills in the hiring process.
