Close to half of senior HR leadership are bracing themselves for a skills shortage in the country, states a survey by jobs portal Shine.com, which took on a mapping exercise of key HR trends for 2019. In preparation to meet future demand, more than a third of HR leaders are invested in redesigning jobs to make room for shifting trends. For instance, traditionally-skilled brand marketers are losing sheen in the face of new-age multi-skilled marketers adept at SEM, brand communication, influencer marketing etc. Similarly, technical skills in UI/UX will also require complementary interpersonal skills for enhanced client experience. Which means upskilling and reskilling the workforce to meet changing job roles are taking centre stage with over half of the HR professionals surveyed citing intent to undertake large-scale upskilling/reskilling initiatives in their organisations.
