Utkarsh India Ltd and the Indian Plumbing Skills Council (IPSC) with backing from the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) will train 2,000 beneficiaries in plumbing skills under Project Pankh. Much of the plumbing profession in India falls in the informal sector. However, there is an acute shortage of a skilled plumbing workforce even as related industries such as construction and real estate development keep growing. A Recognition of Prior Learning assessment will be conducted to certify and up-skill informal skills of workers before embarking on suitable training programs.
