India needs to focus on skill-based education

Following the Japanese ideology, Now India is initiating vocational training at the school level. This will make young people employment-ready. India has an ancient caste-based division of labour in society. Opposing that, these skilling programs will allow the student to choose the stream of their choice. These vocational training will also boost India’s competitiveness globally.

Some of the large organized sectors has been training its workers and imparting skills successfully. To help the workers of the construction industry, small and medium enterprises, the unorganized sector and the self-employed, the Ministry of Skill Development has started a number of projects. They also started vocational training at the school level with ambitious targets and large budgets to make the student employment-ready.
