India Apprenticeship Forum hosted its flagship event “Leveraging The Power Of Apprenticeships For Creating Human Capital”, on 20th December 2019, at Taj MG Road in Bengaluru.

The panel discussed various nuances of apprenticeships bringing in views from the academia, industry and the government.

The panel members were,

  • Sumit Kumar, Vice President, NETAP, TeamLease Skills University, who moderated the discussion.

The industry has been encouraging apprenticeships

Swetha D’Souza, General Manager, HR, Swiggy says that some of the skill councils have been open to ideas and open to implementing curriculum, this helped in creating comfort in hiring the apprenticeships.

How the industry can leverage NEEM

Surajit Roy, Senior Head, Apprenticeship Division, NSDC, gives an overview on how to use  NEEM as a tool. It can be used as a student apprenticeship/staffing tool and also as an apprenticeship under law.

Addressing the industry-academia disconnect to grow apprenticeships

Prof. Thimme Gowda, First Vice-Chancellor, Karnataka State Rural Development & Panchayat Raj University, Gadag says that there has been a disconnect between the industry and academia. The industry and academia have to work together in partnership to design the course in such a way that suits the industry’s requirements.
