Expanding ways for apprenticeships

The third phase of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Yojna which will focus on relaying skills central to managing the Covid 19 pandemic, will be launched on 1st January 2021. The scheme is designed to set forth skills which will help tackle healthcare, sanitisation, cleaning services, 3D printing and logistics amongst others, that have come to be highly valued in the times of the coronavirus. Originally meant to be a 5 year scheme, it had to be curtailed at Rs 950 crores due to shortage of funds.

The scheme serves as a trailblazer for training implementation processes and also for a bigger scheme to come next year as stated by Praveen Kumar, the secretary in-charge of the ministry.
A bottom to top approach will be taken on by the ministry to cater to district level requirements and budgets will be allocated accordingly to facilitate the skill sets based on different obligations. ‘Kaushal Melas’ will be held to spread awareness and prepare candidates. Read More.
