Team India Glory at Global Skills Challenge

Team India bagged two silver and two bronze medals at the 2019 Global Skills Challenge held recently in Melbourne. The winning categories were 3D Digital Game Art, Mechatronics, Jewelry Design, Patisserie and Confectionery. In all, 22 participants represented India across 21 skill trades and were finalists at the IndiaSkills National Finale held in Delhi in October 2018. Prior to competing at the global stage, all participants underwent rigorous training to sharpen their skills. The winners now look forward to representing India at the upcoming 45th WorldSkills International Championship, being held in Kazan, Russia in August. 

Congratulating the winners, Rajesh Agrawal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) said,

“Competitions play a crucial role in motivating performance and Team India has been making it mark over the years, in the skill space globally.”

The MSDE and the National Skill Development Corporation launched India Skills, a biennial competition, to celebrate vocational skill building in India. Winners from India Skills go on to compete at the international stage. The 2018 IndiaSkills Competition hosted over 50,000+ participants from 21 states and union territories competing in 46 skills or trades from Aircraft Maintenance, Beauty Therapy, Autobody Repair to Bricklaying.
