The Rubber Skill Development Council (RSDC) hosted the 3rd award ceremony in Delhi this November to recognise outstanding contributions towards skill development in the entire rubber value chain including plantation and manufacturing segments.

According to Chairman of RSDC Vinod Simon, the RSDC in the last six years of its existence has achieved stellar milestones such as developing National Occupation Standards (NOS) for the entire rubber sector. Training had been imparted to nearly one lakh individuals and a skill gap analysis had been carried out in 20 states.

Of noteworthy attraction at the RSDC awards was the launch of a Mobile Tyre Fitting Skill Van kitted out with equipment and skilled personnel to train, assess and certify tyre fitters.

“Tyre mechanics which dot the length and breadth of Indian highways play an important role in making road transport safer. Fitting of tyres especially commercial tyres is a skilled job requiring formal training. Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association (ATMA) is collaborating with RSDC for upskilling tyre fitters. The training will be provided under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Type 1,” said Rajiv Budhraja, DG, ATMA.

In recognition of the RSDC’s considerable work under RPL, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has set a target to assess, upskill and certify 10 lakh trainees under the scheme.

Among other awards, the RSDC Best Training Partner award went to Rubber Board of India, and Best Industry Partner award was conferred on Metro Tyres.
