Skill training programme in hand embroidery for disabled young women

With the aim of promoting vocational skills to empower disabled young women with social inclusion and economic independence, a hand embroidery skill training programme was launched by the Department of Adult Independent Living of National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities or the NIEPMD. By enabling candidates with 4% job reservations, students will also receive technical knowledge from apparel industry experts. The 10 women enrolled for the course will receive Government of India certificates, after successful completion of the programme. Read more.

1 out of 2 Indian youths are not employable

A recent survey by Wheebox, India Skills Report 2022, reveals that only 48.7% of total Indian youth that are actually employable and that 75% of companies have reported a skill gap. This report also shows that candidates with B.Tech and MBA degrees, and those with experience of 1 to 5 years are more employable and high in demand. Employers are now willing to pay higher wages for skilled labour. The study has noted significant hiring in the following sectors – Software, Internet Businesses, Pharma, Hardware & IT, and BFSI. The Indian education sector needs to include workplace learning as well as industry exposure to bridge this gap. Read more.

Monster.com and KSDC sign MoU, aims to bridge skill gap

Monster.com and Karnataka Skill Development Corporation or the KSDC have signed an MoU with the purpose of helping skilled job seekers to find employment. This partnership will provide career-based learning to job seekers with their collaborative events and initiatives and expose them to recruitment opportunities, with a larger aim of bridging the employment gap. A total of 1,86,552 skilled students from the KSDC will be provided a directory containing 6 lac listings and access to hiring fairs and knowledge resources. “Our goal is to facilitate job creation in Karnataka to ensure that migration is contained and the state can prosper,” said minister for IT, BT, S&T and skill development, government of Karnataka Dr CN Ashwath Narayan after signing the MoU.
