According to a statement by an official, the construction of Shri Vishwakarma Skill University, the first Skill University in India, has been completed by 80% and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating the university on completion. Industry integrated dual education model or IIDEM will be implemented in its vocational courses along with German dual model vocational education pedagogy. This university will be offering programmes in automotive, electronics, healthcare, robotics and automation, public services, agriculture, banking and finance, analytics, management, and entrepreneurship at diploma, graduate, and post-graduate level.

IBM, IIIT-Kottayam tie up to address skill gap in students

IBM and the Indian Institute of Information Technology or IIIT, Kottayam will be collaborating to provide skill and curriculum enhancement to faculty and students by means of educational resources, select IBM software, tutorials, cloud access for hands-on experience, courseware content curated according to industry relevance, and other materials with the aim of prepare students with the “right skills that will enable them to be competitive in the technology job market.” The General Manager of IBM Automation, Dinesh Nirmal, said, “India is an innovation and talent hub for IBM, and our collaborations with IIIT-Kottayam, TCS, and Wipro will help us accelerate the adoption of automation for businesses across industries.”

No Odisha District Figures In 2nd Edition Of Awards For Excellence In District Skill Development Planning

The second edition of Awards for Excellence for the District Skill Development Planning or DSDP was held earlier last week and there was no representation from the state of Odisha. Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Minister of Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship presented the top 30 districts with awards for innovative best practices in skill development. Rajkot in Gujarat came first, Cachar in Assam was second and Satara in Maharashtra was put third among all the participating districts. There were 8 Awards for Excellence in District Skill Development Planning, 13 Certificate for Excellence in District Skill Development Planning, and 9 Letters of Appreciation for District Skill Development Planning.

Delhi govt to provide skill training to workers of unorganised sector through special programme

In order to increase the workers’ income in the unorganised sector, these workers will be provided with skill training by the Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University or the DSEU. This move by the AAP government will help improve skills of these workers as well as connect them with target groups. An official statement revealed that the workers will be provided with a DSEU certificate training course after being identified by sources such as the district magistrate offices, construction board databases, and associations. The unorganised sector workers include plumbers, blacksmiths, electricians, laundry workers, shoemakers, potters, etc. The statement said, “The Kejriwal government is committed to the upliftment of all sections of the people of Delhi. This step will prove to be very beneficial for the workers of the unorganised sector, as this will not only improve their skills but will also improve their quality of life and income.”
