Insights unfold at India Apprenticeship Forum’s Event

With the first delegate walking in at 8:50 am, the excitement for discussions on the apprenticeship ecosystem was very visible as India Apprenticeship Forum’s flagship event “Leveraging The Power Of Apprenticeships For Creating Human Capital” kicked off in Bengaluru, on 20th December, 2019, to a packed hall.

Here’s a short summary of the day that unfolded.

Sumit Kumar, Vice President, NETAP set the tone for the event in his welcome address.

Surajit Roy, Senior Head, Apprenticeship Division, NSDC, in his keynote address, gave an overview of the recent steps taken by the Government in making it easier for employers to embrace apprenticeship and urged the industries to leverage apprenticeships as means to build talent within the organization.

The first keynote address was followed by a panel discussion with

  1. Prof. Thimme Gowda, First Vice-Chancellor, Karnataka State Rural Development & Panchayat Raj University, Gadag
  2. Anita Borulkar, VP, HR, Bharat Fritz Werner
  3. Balaji Babu, Zonal Head, HR, Fortis Healthcare
  4. Swetha D’souza, General Manager, HR, Swiggy
  5. Surajit Roy, Senior Head, Apprenticeship Division, NSDC
  6. Sumit Kumar, Vice President, NETAP, who also moderated the discussion

The panel discussed various nuances of apprenticeships bringing in views from the academia, industry and the government.

Manish Sabharwal, Chairman, TeamLease Services Ltd., in his keynote address talked upon the changing world of education, employment and globalization and stressed the need for the industry to provide a wage premium for the right skills.
