India’s MSDE certifies 500 for footwear making skills

500 eligible candidates were felicitated with the “recognition of prior learning” certificates for their footwear manufacturing skills at an annual event organised by Agra Footwear and Manufacturers and Exporters Chamber (AFMEC). An official release mentions that the said event is an ideal platform to attract International suppliers and producers to come together for showcasing the best technology for latest footwear.

Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) by means of such recognition aims at upgrading and transforming the unorganised footwear industry into a formal organised sector. The semi-mechanised small scale and cottage industries account for a good percentage of footwear exports.
