Government to hoist the calibre of youth: skill-development programmes

The government is putting various skill-development programmes into place through 20 central ministries and departments all around the nation as part of the Skill India Mission. These include the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS), the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), and the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS). Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Skills Development, has stated the funds received under the NSDF and how these funds have been disbursed. NSDF was established as a trust under the Indian Trust Act of 1882 with a mission to improve, encourage, and develop the talents of Indian youth through a variety of sector-specific programmes.

World Youth Skills Day celebrations at the Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council (THSC)

The Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council (THSC) celebrated World Youth Skills Day with various activities and interactive sessions. programmes including a face-to-face session on the topic ‘Skill ecosystem and employment scenario’, Testimonials from young students about the skill programmes experiences and School visits for awareness on importance of skill development was organised.THSC’s focus is to create benchmark courses that are in step with the evolving needs of industry through appropriate courses, curriculum, career support, and other activities. Some of the initiatives include skill training apprenticeship, recruit-train-deploy model (RTD), Bvoc, etc. Student-funded programmes and centres to train both rural and urban youth are organised under THSC.   

The rural-based skill development programme, “Azadi Se Antyodaya Tak,”

Twenty-five beneficiaries are participating in a 90-day ‘Azadi Se Antyodaya Tak’ skill development programme. The programme is being organised in East Siang district by the Papum Pare-based Rural Self Employment Training Institute as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The entrepreneurship training programme on dairy and poultry farming and other livestock farming was launched on Monday, where the experts from the veterinary department, the KVK, the SBI, and others spoke on various aspects of animal husbandry. The experts pointed out the chances of income generation and various loans regarding livestock farming. The Arunachal Pradesh Rural Livelihoods Mission, East Siang, is also a collaborator. 

Skill development training for IIT students

Over the past two months, the Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad (IIT-H) has run a skill development workshop for 57 ITI students from Patancheru and Sangareddy in four batches with the goal of improving their abilities in conventional machining processes and introducing them to sophisticated CNC facilities. The first fabrication facility established at IITH in 2009, a central workshop, has substantially enhanced its capabilities by integrating a variety of highly advanced machines with very specialised uses. The workshop’s main goal is to give practical instruction to the students, whether they are from IIT-H or technocrats from adjacent institutes. The main faculties pointed out the possibilities of the facility and how the workshop functions as a centre of skill development.
